In this picture from the very first edition of 'The Magnet', a weekly story paper for boys (1908) Harry Wharton, on his way to Greyfriars School for the first time, comes to blows with Dicky Nugent on the train. The boys patch up their quarrel and soon become the best of friends. Frank Richards' most enduring character, Billy Bunter, did not make his first appearance until several issues later.
